How long does pool table assembly take?
A standard 7-foot or 8-foot three-piece slate pool table takes 3 to 5 hours for a full assembly: frame, slate levelling, felt installation, and cushion rail attachment. The slate levelling step alone takes 45 to 90 minutes if done correctly — it cannot be rushed. MDF bed tables are faster at 2 to 3 hours.
Do you move pool tables within Singapore?
Yes. Pool table moving requires full disassembly: cloth removal, rail removal, slate lifting (three-piece slates weigh 90–130 kg each), and frame disassembly. At the destination, we reassemble and re-level from scratch. Re-felting at the destination is recommended because removal usually damages the felt. We quote moving and re-felting together.
Can I use a pool table on an HDB floor?
A full-size 8-foot slate pool table weighs 300–400 kg assembled. HDB floor loading capacity is typically 1.5 kN/m² (about 150 kg/m²). A pool table distributes load across four legs, each covering a small area — point load at each leg can exceed HDB limits. We strongly advise landed property or ground-floor locations for slate tables. MDF tables at 150–200 kg are generally safer in HDB units but you should still check with your TC.
What is the difference between tournament felt and standard felt?
Tournament felt (worsted cloth — Simonis 760, Iwan Simonis 860) is a tight weave with no nap: balls roll true and fast. Standard felt (napped cloth) is cheaper and slower but more forgiving for casual play. For a home in Singapore, napped cloth is fine — it is also more resistant to humidity marking. We can show you samples at the time of installation.
My pool table slate is cracked. Can it be repaired?
Hairline cracks in slate can be filled with beeswax and levelled — a standard technique among table technicians. Structural cracks that cross the slate width cannot be safely repaired and the section should be replaced. We assess on-site and advise honestly before proceeding.
