How do you safely place a marble dining table top?
Marble tops on dining tables arrive as a single slab (typically 30–60 kg) or in a crate. We use professional suction cup handles rated to 80 kg to lift and position the slab without dragging it across the frame. The top must be lowered onto the frame squarely from above — lateral dragging cracks marble at the edges where the frame contact is uneven. We never rush this step.
My dining table has an extendable middle leaf. Why does the leaf sit higher than the rest of the surface?
The table guide rails (the two tracks that run under the table and allow the halves to pull apart) are not sitting level relative to each other. One side is usually 1–2 mm lower, causing the leaf to tilt across its width. This is fixed by adjusting the guide rail position before the table halves are placed — not something easily corrected after the table is assembled and loaded.
How long does dining table assembly take?
A standard dining table with four legs and a solid or engineered wood top takes 30–60 minutes. An extendable table adds 30–45 minutes for guide rail alignment. A marble or glass top table adds 20–30 minutes for safe top placement. If you have chairs to assemble as well, each standard dining chair takes about 10–15 minutes — book a combined dining set assembly for a better rate.
