How do you install curtain tracks on a false ceiling?
In most BTO and condo renovations, the curtain track mounts to a plasterboard false ceiling. We drill through the plasterboard into the concrete slab above it — the Fischer anchor goes into concrete, not plasterboard. This is the only load-bearing method. A bracket screwed into plasterboard alone will pull out when heavy blackout curtains are drawn. We use a SDS hammer drill to reach the concrete slab and install rated S8 anchors at every bracket.
My track needs to span 4 metres. How many brackets do you use?
For a standard track, we space brackets at 60–80 cm centres. For heavy blackout curtains with interlining (which can weigh 8–12 kg total), we use 50–60 cm spacing. A 4-metre track typically needs 6–8 brackets. We never skip brackets to save time — an unsupported track span will deflect visibly under curtain weight.
Can you install a double track so I can have both a sheer and a blackout curtain?
Yes. Double curtain tracks are one of our most common jobs. The outer (sheer) track and inner (blackout) track must be installed at the correct depth offset from the ceiling and from each other so curtains do not interfere when drawn. We confirm measurements before drilling.
I have Bay window curtain tracks. Is that harder?
Bay window tracks require a curved or mitre-jointed track system. We install both types. The key is getting the corner angles correct so the curtain runs smoothly around the turn without bunching. For a mitre system, we cut the track on-site with a mitre saw.
